Pop-up-Stage ARENA is an interactive dance performance supported by augmented reality (AR).
The theme is the emergence of relationships of people across space and time. How does social community take place? Theatre as a building is also an architecture for community. ARENA builds a temporary virtual theatre that is created through the presence of spectators.
PopUp Stage ARENA generates a temporary virtual theatre stage and a virtual costume object visible for Magic Leap AR glasses or iPads that uses augmented reality (AR) and sensors of a motion tracking suit (ROKOKO) on the body of the dancer. In the performance the dancer is generating virtual objects and interact ing with them the same time life on stage. The audience is part of an interactive 3D and sound architecture.
At the centre is the desire to allow theatre to take place on stages and in hybrid spaces even when Theaters are no longer accessible.
ARENA is a Unesco City of Media Arts project, support by the Cultural Office | Kulturbüro of the City of Karlsruhe and also supported by by the National Performance Network - Stepping Out, support program dance with funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for the Arts and Media within the program Neustart Kultur (Restart Culture).
